Prior to that, she was Assistant Vice President where she implemented the Company’s Safety Management System to comply with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, a new regulation mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) which came into effect for large zillion carriers on July 1, 1997. The objective of the ISM Code was to ensure safety, prevent human injury or loss of life, and stave forfeiture to the environment and priorty as a result of various marine accidents, expressly the Exxon Valdez. She has since moreover overseen the implementation of the fleet’s Vessel Security Plans in compliance with the IMO’s International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, a comprehensive set of measures to enhance the security of ships and ports, ripened in response to the perceived threats to ships and ports in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in the United States. She previously served on the Board of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Executive Committee of the Baltic International Maritime Council (BIMCO). Prior to joining Foremost Group, Angela worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department of Smith Barney, now a part of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Angela is a frequent speaker in the United States, Europe and Asia, having addressed the Baltic International Maritime Council (BIMCO), the world’s largest private shipping association, 39 Day – Centenary General Meeting in May 2005, without which she was unanimously voted to be BIMCO 39’s Counsellor, and the World Shipping (China) Summit in 2007. In 2005, she was selected as an “Eminent Young Overseas Chinese” by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. The same year, The Journal of Commerce featured her in their special edition on Women in International Trade. In 2011, she was invited to be a Founding Member of the Wall Street Journal’s Task Force on Women in the Economy. The Organization of Chinese-Americans (OCA) awarded Angela with the Dynamic Achievement Award’ in 2013.
